At the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix, Mexican driver Checo Pérez from the Red Bull team had a difficult race, finishing in 17th place. He considered this race the worst he has had at home. After a brief climb in positions, Pérez pitted and was unable to get back into scoring positions due to a penalty and a collision with Liam Lawson. Despite this, F1 continued until the end, with Carlos Sainz from Ferrari winning and the concert by Los Ángeles Azules at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Fans of the Grand Prix received aluminum cup towers as a souvenir, which became the trendy collectible of the event. These cups were handed out for free at hydration stations and could also be purchased when buying soft drinks and beers. In total, more than 1.4 million cups made of recycled aluminum were distributed, aiming to promote a plastic-free event and encourage sustainability.
The company ARZYZ partnered with the Mexico City GP to carry out this initiative. It is expected that the aluminum cups will be collected at the end of the event and recycled to create a commemorative sculpture for the 2024 edition of the Mexican Grand Prix. For their part, spectators began to collect the cups in the stands, turning them into a collectible item.
Regarding prices at the event, Heineken beer was sold for 160 pesos (two 355 ml cans) and, for an additional cost, a michelada could be obtained. On the other hand, soda was priced at 70 pesos per 355 ml can. Fans shared how much they spent during the Grand Prix, with figures reaching 30,000 pesos for a group of 15 people by the end of the day. Some stated that the experience was priceless and that at least they took the cups home as a memento of their presence at the event.
